Isaiah too longs for the coming of the Lord to make things right in the world. He imagines it being a spectacle with God rending the heavens and appearing as the mountain quakes before Him so that everyone will pay attention. But then he settles on quite different images of how God will come to His people — as a Father who loves them, a potter who has shaped them in His image. Think about how God chose to enter into human history in the person of Jesus. Do you think He made the right choice?
